Nasrin Begum

Individuals & couples Psychotherapist

About Me and My Practice

My name is Nasrin, and I am a fully qualified UKCP registered psychotherapist working with individuals and couples.

I am passionate about my work and have extensive experience and training, enabling me to help people with challenging communication issues. I have extensive experience with couples’ work with communication breakdown and trust issues. I am a co-facilitator for the AFT couples forum seminars. I work in short-term and longer-term models.

I work with a wide range of issues which you might come across in your life. When you find yourself “stuck”, unsure about your life direction, unhappy about relationships, or generally anxious or worried, I can offer confidential therapeutic support to help you make sense of these emotional and relational experiences.

I work with diverse issues such as:

● Anxiety ● Depression ● Low self-esteem ● Attachment issues ● Stress- depression ● Infidelity ● ADHD ● Autism / Neurodiversity ● Relationship issues ● Family issues ● Parenting ● Couples psychotherapy ● Trauma / Complex trauma ● Loss ● Identity ● Race and difference ● Domestic abuse ● Anger management issues

Experience

For the past 20 years, I have worked in the charity and statutory sectors with adults and children. I currently work as a senior psychotherapist for the NHS providing psychotherapy for individuals, couples and families.

I am also an EMDR (Eye-movement desensitisation and reprocessing) practitioner. I specialise in the treatment of adults, adolescents and children who suffer from complex trauma, anxiety and depression. The National Institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE) has recommended EMDR as one of the choices for PTSD.

I value the diversity in us all, whether that’s to do with your race, ethnicity and the colour of your skin, gender or sexuality, age, religious or political belief, disability – to name a few. I have an LGBTQ-affirmative and anti-racist approach. These affect all people because each of us are diverse in our own ways, and it’s by appreciating these differences that we might learn to be more compassionate to ourselves and others.

I aim to create a safe, non-judgmental environment for you and work with your strengths to help create positive changes in your life. I am happy to offer a consultation via Zoom or email/phone in the first instance so we can talk through whether this is the right kind of therapy for you. I offer face-to-face, online or telephone sessions based on your requirements.
