Carlotta Castiglioni
About Me and My Practice
I have always been fascinated by the complexity of human beings, their darkness and their lights. I consider the therapeutic room not only as a space for self-reflection and exploration of what feels difficult to process on your own, but also a place to speak the unspeakable. Therapy can provide an opportunity to challenge behaviours that may appear unchangeable or automatic. As a practitioner I am interested in the integration of cultural and gender studies and have experience working with depression, isolation, anxiety, sexual identity, existential difficulties, relational dilemmas and bereavement.
Sometimes loss is experienced through bereavement, however “loss” is not solely related to death. On the contrary, we encounter diverse types of losses in our life, loss of identity, loss of job, loss of confidence and so on, which affects our psychological and emotional wellbeing. Together, we can process and become aware of the influence this has on us.
I believe therapy is a two-way process, where honesty and openness is at the core of the therapeutic relationship. Often this unique relationship can provide an opportunity to unravel the patterns you may find repeatedly occurring in your life. The uniqueness is related to my approach as I tailor the therapy to the clients.
